Taking and Making: a History of our High Sierra Waters

Water is perhaps the most important force that has shaped our Eastern Sierra landscape and culture through time. Join Melissa, a Friends of the Inyo Trail Ambassador, as she takes you on a journey through the Sierra's water history and hydrology along the Kearsarge Pass Trail out of Independence. Meet at 10AM at the Kearsarge Pass Trailhead. Bring water, sunscreen, snacks, layers, and appropriate footwear for hiking. The length of the walk will depend on group consensus (but be prepared to be out for at least two hours). The Kearsarge Pass Trail is moderately strenuous.

Bridgeport Trails Day

Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend at the second annual Bridgeport Trails Day! Meet at the Mono Village parking lot at Upper Twin Lake at 9am on Saturday, June 30 for a fun morning of trail work and lakeshore clean-up. All ages welcome. Bring water and sunscreen and wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. We will provide work gloves and tools. All volunteers will receive a free coupon for ice cream at the Twin Lakes Resort! Thanks to our partners: Mono County, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and the Twin Lakes Resort.

Interpretive Hike at Rock Creek Lakes Resort

Using story-telling, your senses, and the creative process, heighten your observation skills to develop a more personal relationship with your natural surroundings. On this interactive hike, you will be encouraged to get your hands dirty and learn through experience. Meet at Rock Creek Lakes Resort at 10am on Saturday, June 30. All ages welcome.
