Pop-Up Stewardship: Mammoth Lakes Cleanup

Come one, come all: Friends of the Inyo needs you! Bring your friends, bring your kids, bring a stranger? Friends of the Inyo is hosting a pop-up cleanup event in Mammoth Lakes  Friday, June 28th. We will be meeting at the Horseshoe Lake Parking Lot at 9am and dispersing throughout the trashiest trails of town till noon. Trash Grabbers, Gloves, and Bags will be provided. Come Join Friends of the Inyo and the Inyo National Forest for some good ol' fashioned trail work on the Tuttle Creek Trail. Where: We will be meeting at the Tuttle Creek Trailhead (limited parking) and working on the Tuttle Creek trail up towards the Ashram When: Sunday, June 30th at 9 am till noonish What: We will be performing much needed trail work from the trailhead and beyond! This may include: brushing back overgrown trail, re-benching trail tread, moving large rocks, clearing drainage.... the possibilities are endless. June Lake Trails Day 2024 – Patriotically on Independence Day Weekend!

2024's Annual June Lake Trails Day, Saturday July 6th     WHEN: Saturday, July 6th, 2024 from 8:30am to 12:30pm   WHERE: Meet at the June Lake Community Center Parking Lot/June Lake Community Park. Here   WHAT: Join June Lake Trails Committee and Friends of the Inyo for a fun morning of maintaining popular trails and picking up trash and fishing line around the June Lake Loop.  Friends of the Inyo will provide gloves, trash bags, and tools. Bring water, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear for hiking. No charge. All ages welcome!  


Annual Rock Creek Lakes Cleanup 2024

2024's Rock Creek Lakes Clean Up is planned for Saturday July 20th. Come Join Friends of the Inyo, the USFS, and Rock Creek Lakes Resort for a day of trash-grabbin' fun!   Where: Meet at the Rock Creek Lake Resort Parking lot When: Saturday, July 20th @ 9am-noonish What: collecting fishing line and other garbage from around the Rock Creek Lake shore and surrounding areas   Please come prepared with sun-protection: hats, glasses, SPF, close-toed shoes, and stoke! Friends of the Inyo will supply trash grabbers, gloves, and bags. Stick around for snacks and refreshments...yummm!      


Volunteer Work-Week: Golden Trout Wilderness Fence Removal

Join Friends of the Inyo and the USFS on a Volunteer Work-Week in the Golden Trout Wilderness! When: August 1st through 5th This is a 5 day 4 night overnight remote trip. Participants must have their own camping gear and be familiar with Backcountry hiking and camping. What: Remove defunct grazing structures from alpine meadows We will be hiking to and from our worksite daily, dismantling fence structures, and hauling materials to an extraction point. Volunteer Stewardship Project: Upper Rock Creek Boardwalk Restoration

Join Friends of the Inyo and USFS in improving the Upper Rock Creek Canyon trail! What: We will be replacing dilapidated sections of the boardwalk structures throughout the Upper Rock Creek Canyon trail. When: Saturday, August 10th 2024 @ 9AM Where: We will meet at the Palisade Day Use parking lot: 37.492660, -118.716835 and caravan or hike to project sites. Since we will be engaging in tool-wielding manual labor, please come prepared with: sun protection, eye protection, close-toed shoes, long pants, long sleeves, hydration, and snacks. Gloves, tools, and PPE will be provided.
