National Trails Day: Moved from Shepherds Pass to Meysan Lake Trail!

Come join FOI and the U.S. Forest Service for a day of trail work at the Meysan Lake Trail. We will be restoring sections of washed out trail, so be ready to get your hands dirty - and possibly your feet wet (considering the water levels)! We will meet at the Meysan Lake Trailhead at 9am (No longer meeting at Shepherds Pass). We are planning for a full day of gritty work, but if you can only join for a portion of the day, we appreciate any help! Please bring a day pack with plenty of water, snacks, sun protection,...

Explore all facets of the history of the highest mountain in the contiguous United States, Mt Whitney. Cordero will lead you on a hike as he shares information and insights into the flora, fauna, and rich human and natural history of this peak known around the world. Meet at 9 AM at Whitney Portal, near the Meysan Lakes Trailhead for a moderate hike lasting roughly 3 hours. Bring sturdy shoes, snacks, water, hat, sunglasses, binoculars if you use them and any other essentials for a few hours of hiking. Space on this hike is limited to 12 folks. RSVP below...
