Plant Medicine and Wild Edibles of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Interpretive Hike

Come join Mono Lake District Trail Ambassador, Colt on a hike around Lundy Canyon where you'll learn about, and potentially find some medicinal-edible flora. Where: Parking at Lundy Lake Resort and carpooling to the Lundy Canyon Trailhead (parking is limited at the trailhead). When: Meet at 10 a.m. at the Lundy Lake Resort on July 15th, August 19th, and September 24th What: Wild plants have been harvested for food and medicine in the Sierra Nevada Mountains since humans inhabited the area. Now, we have the opportunity to learn about this invaluable practice and hopefully carry it into our modern lives....

Come join Mammoth Lakes Ranger District- Trail Ambassador Brian, on a hike around the Horseshoe Lake Loop.   Where: You'll meet at the Horseshoe Lake parking lot and Trail Head When: 9 A.M. till Noonish- on Saturday, July 29th, August 26th, September 30th What: Horseshoe Lake Loop is a perfect ~2 mile stroll to see examples of local: history, geology, ecology, botany, and many other "ologies" of the Eastern Sierra In-Real-Life.  Fall down the rabbit hole of your curiosity with this "choose your own adventure" style interp program. See a pretty flower? Identify it! How did those rocks get there?...

Saturday, August 26, from 4 to 7 pm - "Summer's End Folk Fest" at Pokonobe Marina, 3863 Lake Mary Road, on the shore of Lake Mary in Mammoth Lakes.  A fun evening of music featuring Salt River Straights, Kevin Seymore, John Demaria, Ben W., and Alex Garcia. Suggested $10 donation will help raise funds for the No Hot Creek Mine Campaign.

Moonrise Stroll: Interpretive Hike with TA Kelly at Buckeye Hot Springs- time change to 7:45pm 8/30 and 6:30pm 9/28

Come join our Bridgeport RD Trail Ambassador Kelly for an almost-full Moonrise stroll out at Buckeye Hot Springs Where: Meet at the Buckeye Hot Springs Parking Lot on Buckeye Rd. The Buckeye Road is closed from the 395 but the parking lot can be reached from the Twin Lakes Road, and then taking the well graded and maintained FS 017 road from Doc and Al's Resort. Fire and Ice: A Land of Contrasts- Interpretive Hike with Jean at McGee Creek

Come join our White Mountain Ranger District- Trail Ambassador Jean, on an interpretive hike along McGee Creek. Description: The Sierra Nevada and the Mono Basin have been sculpted by volcanoes, glaciations and wildfires. Explore the changing environment on a 3 hour walk making our way up the McGee Creek trail. This trail is moderate although it does gain elevation. Where: McGee Creek Trailhead When: 9am  August 6th and September 9th (note time change to 9am) Please bring lunch, water, layers, and wear hiking appropriate footwear. Mono County- National Public Lands Day: Join Inyo National Forest staff  and Friends of the Inyo Trail Ambassadors for volunteer projects around the Mono Lake District or stop by the visitor center to learn about the impacts our local, state, federal and nonprofit partners have created for public lands. Events at the Mono Basin Visitor Center include educational programs, junior ranger programs, interpretive hikes, and free goodies from our partners! Trout Trot 5K/10K Charity Run to Benefit Friends of the Inyo’s No Hot Creek Mine Protection Campaign!

Register today for Friends of the Inyo's No Hot Creek Mine Trout Trot 5K/10K Fun Run! This is the second annual Trout Trot Charity Fundraiser, which began as a citizen volunteer effort in 2022 to protect Hot Creek from foreign mining interests. Now that No Hot Creek Mine and Friends of the Inyo have joined forces, this event will help raise funds for a campaign to gain PERMANENT PROTECTION for Hot Creek!
