Wild Harvest Interpretive Hike
August 26, 2017 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join Trail Ambassador Astra on the Parker Bench Trail just outside of June Lake for an interpretive hike introducing basic edibles and medicinals. Going up a few steep switchbacks, this hike will cross in and out of a riparian corridor and explore the differences in wetland and desert plants.
Astra is an amateur plant lover who was introduced to foraging while living in the Pacific Northwest. In this hike, she’ll share what she knows about the Sierra’s wild plants, indigenous plant uses, and good foraging practices.
Expect to hike uphill and gain about 500′ over the course of a 1.5 mile hike, likely crossing wet or muddy areas on trail.
Meet at Parker Bench/Rush Creek Trailhead at Silver Lake at 10 am. Send questions to Astra@friendsoftheinyo.org.
