Root to Ridge: A Free Naturalist Hike on How Plants, Animals, and People Shape the Forest

Join us for a guided interpretive walk in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. We’ll explore the hidden connections that shape our forest, from the roots beneath our feet to the ridges above.

- Meeting Location: Participants will meet at the Virginia Lakes Trailhead. On Google Maps, it appears as “Virginia Lakes Parking“. Coordinates: 38.0477439, -119.2630841
- Hike Duration: 9 AM – 10:00 AM on Sunday, July 6th. Please arrive a few minutes early.
Registration
Each individual participant must register to attend. Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian register for them. Registration is, and always will be, completely free! Optional donations support our continued stewardship and policy programming.

Important considerations:
- All ages welcome!
- There is no running water at the hike location. Bring plenty of water and enough food or snacks to stay comfortable.
- Wear sturdy shoes you’re comfortable walking in for over a mile.
- Wear sun protection – hat, sun glasses, sunscreen, etc.
