Dec. 4 – ON THE BODIE HILLS: Zoom presentation with Friends of the Inyo’s JORA FOGG and the Range of Light Group 30X30 initiative

December 4, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

The Bodie Hills lie between the Sierra Nevada and the Great Basin Desert on the California/Nevada border.   Its landscape is both scenic and ecologically diverse with rounded volcanic mountains, aspen groves, meadows and ephemeral lakes. The Bodie Hills provide habitat for a variety of species including the imperiled Bi-State Sage Grouse. The place is also rich in pre and post colonial cultural history.

Jora Fogg knows much about this special place.  She is Policy Director for Friends of the Inyo and leads the Bodie Hills Conservation Partnership––a coalition of organizations opposed to industrial-scale gold mining in the hills, and advocating for their permanent protection.  Mrs. Fogg has spent the last ten years in June Lake, CA which has allowed her to spend many days exploring the region. In 2020 she completed a comprehensive Lands with Wilderness Character inventory of the California portion of the Bodie Hills.

Please join Desert Survivors and the Range of Light Sierra Club Group for this online presentation by Jora Fogg on how and why protecting the Bodie Hills can help fulfill state, national and global 30×30 goals.  Please contact Nick Blake – blake@desert-survivors.org to obtain information about the Zoom link to join this meeting.
