July 16-17: CANCELED – Inyo Rock Daisy Campout & Sunrise Hikes with Friends of the Inyo

We regret that this event has been canceled due to the unavailability of our group leaders. 

Join Friends of the Inyo for a campout at Conglomerate Mesa and a sunrise hike to see the Inyo Rock Daisy in bloom.  It’s a time-sensitive window in July only!

We’ll beat the heat by heading out toward the Mesa on Saturday evening, July 16, spending the night, getting up early Sunday morning, July 17, and watching the sunrise on our hike up to see this unique, delicate flower. Space will be very limited to minimize impacts on the blooming Inyo Rock Daisies; therefore, please fill out the RSVP form below as soon as possible if you will be joining us for this exciting outing. 

Although Friends of the Inyo can provide one vehicle for 5 passengers, we are in need of additional drivers with high clearance, 4WD vehicles. Participants will provide their own food, camping gear and other personal items for the trip.

Itinerary

Saturday

4:30 pm – Meet in Lone Pine (exact location will be provided to registrants prior to the trip)

4:45 pm – Dive to Campsite

6:30 pm – Arrive at Campsite

6:30-8:00 – Set up camp and informal gathering. Prepare dinner on your own.

Sunday

5:00 am wake up

5:30 am Drive up to trailhead

6:00 am Park and start hike

6:45 am Reach CM Saddle

7:30 am Back at Vehicles

8:30 am Back at camp to pack up

9:30 am Drive back to Lone Pine

11:30 am Arrive in Lone Pine
