Celebrating the Owens River Headwaters: A Wild and Scenic River System

Join Trail Ambassador, Julia Tawney, for a virtual exploration of Glass Creek Meadow from the comfort of your computer screen. Learn about the botanical, geological, and historical significance of the Owens River Headwaters as a nationally designated Wild and Scenic River system and wilderness area. Fun for all ages.

About the Presenter:

Julia joins returns this year as a Trail Ambassador, working in the Owens River Headwater Wild & Scenic River Area. Having grown up in Portland, Oregon, she was first introduced to the Eastern Sierra during an outdoor program trip in college. The last few winters Julia ski instructed at June and Mammoth Mountain, and spent summers leading youth backpacking trips in the Trinity Alps. Julia is passionate about connecting young people to place, and empowerment through outdoor recreation activities. She enjoys back country skiing, trail running, hiking, baking, and jumping into cold water. She is excited to spend this summer in the Eastern Sierra as a Trail Ambassador.
