Event Description

Join Friends of the Inyo Stewardship Director Alex Ertaud and Trail Ambassador Lindsay Butcher as they share with us their experience working in Death Valley National Park effacing vehicle trespass on the delicate desert playas. Because of the unique geography and climate of Death Valley, tire tracks left by travelers who decided to drive off the designated road scar the landscape. In partnership with the National Park Service, our Trail Ambassadors work to remove these scars to restore the beautiful landscapes as well as prevent others from following those tracks and further damaging the lake bed. This work is one of a kind experience. Learn about the techniques, triumphs, and challenges of working in remote Death Valley National Park.

About Alex

Alex works as Friends of the Inyo’s Stewardship Director and leads the Trail Ambassador Program. A seasoned Trail Ambassador himself, Alex is leading Friends of the Inyo to put boots on the ground and hands in the dirt to care for the public lands of the Eastern Sierra.

About Lindsay

Lindsay Butcher works as a Friends of the Inyo Trail Ambassador and Membership Coordinator. After overcoming a challenging 2020 Stewardship season and succeeding despite its hurdles, Lindsay has joined the Friends of the Inyo team year-round and is an asset to our team.
