DESCRIPTION:The Slideshow\nJoin photographer and author Andy Selters\, and arctic guide and advocate Brennan Lagasse for an evening portrayal of this northeast corner of Alaska making headlines for both grandeur and proposed oil development.\nAndy will share his pictures and tales from a north-south traverse through the Brooks Range\, and Brennan will present his perspectives from many visits as a leader of expeditions and youth groups\, including work with the native peoples and an overview of the threats from oil development and climate change.\n\n\n\nAbout ANWR and the Brooks Range\nThe Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most extensive and magnificent wild areas in the world\, a spectacularly vast and varied region of monumental yet threatened wildlife migrations\, and native peoples whose subsistence and identity depend on them.\nAbout Andy Selters\n\nAndy Selters is a former mountain guide\, now a photographer\, writer\, roofer\, and T’ai-chi instructor. His books include the award-winning Ways to The Sky\, An Historical Guide to North American Mountaineering\, Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue\, and a historical photograph book on the Inyo National Forest.\n\n\nAbout Brennan Lagasse\n\nBrennan Lagasse is a ski guide\, writer\, and educator living in Lake Tahoe\, California. He has guided human-powered trips to Antarctica\, Kyrgyzstan\, Alaska\, Greenland\, and the Himalayas. Brennan is a professor at Sierra Nevada College where he is also the Chair of the Sustainability Department. He has written articles for multiple publications on subjects ranging from indigenous rights to land use and maintains a blog about backcountry skiing. DESCRIPTION:Help restore priceless climbing areas at the Bishop Fall Highball!\nJoin Friends of the Inyo\, the American Alpine Club\, and the Bureau of Land Management\, for a morning of trail work and clearing trash on our public lands.\n8:30 AM – meet at the Black Sheep Coffee Bar for free coffee\, and bagels from Great Basin Bakery. \n9 AM – Choose your own adventure  groups heading to the Buttermilk boulder area or the Volcanic Tablelands (Happy and Sad boulder areas\,) and will pick up trash and do light trail work on the lands we love. \nAll ages and abilities welcome. Bring snacks\, water\, and wear closed-toed shoes. Sun protection including Long sleeve shirts\, pants\, and hats are recommended.
