Types of Bequests

Settlement of your estate includes many unknowns including the overall value of assets. The most popular method employed by our legacy donors is a percentage of the value after assets are allocated. We have provided sample language for either a lump sum planned gift or a percentage of the residual estate. These examples are meant to illustrate options and provide context for your licensed financial professional to consider in your estate plan.

Sample Language

Here is some sample wording that you may wish to use to include Friends of the Inyo in your will or estate plans:

Percentage bequest

“After fulfilling all other specific provisions, I give, devise, bequeath ___% of the rest, residuary, and remainder to Friends of the Inyo, a California non-profit corporation and a charity described in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID number 77-0389436) with offices at 621 W Line Street Suite 201, Bishop, California 93514, for Environmental protection, restoration, and education programs.”

Outright bequest

“I give, devise & bequeath (a specific asset, a specific amount, or a specific percentage) to Friends of the Inyo, a California non-profit corporation and a charity described in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID number 77-0389436) with offices at 621 W Line Street Suite 201, Bishop, CA 93514, for Environmental protection, restoration, and education programs.”
