Background and Main Objections

Kore Mining intends to proceed with exploratory drilling under a catagorical exclusion (CE) to, circumvent environmental review, from the Forest Service. Friends of the Inyo coauthored a 40 page with a powerful coalition of local, regional, and national groups.  argued wrote a 40 has long enjoyed serving and recreating in the Alabama Hills. This important document outlines how the plan does not meet Forest Service regulations for a categorical exclusion, and should require an environmental assessment allowing the Forest Service to make an informed decision and to facilitate public involvement. The document includes citations, references, and potential impacts to help the Forest Service and public begin identifying and considering the significant environmental impacts of the drilling and potential long term mining project near Mammoth Lakes. 

The coalition signing this document includes Sierra Club Range of Light Group, Friends of the Inyo, Californians for Western Wilderness, Western  Watersheds Project, WildEarth Guardians, INYO350, the Center for Biological Diversity, and Basin and Range Watch
