You’ll hear from Caelen McQuilkin\, Eric Leitch (astrophysicist! and active community member)\, Jeff Griffiths (county supervisor)\, Phill Kiddoo\, and Maria Kemp. They will share ideas for reducing waste\, clean energy\, defending water\, and creating green sustainable jobs. All these topics will focus on action for a healthier future. \nSpeakers will also address DWP’s dewatering Mono County (Keep Long Valley Green!).\n \nMusic\, food\, crafts\, and activities for the whole family will follow our speakers. \nCome meet Gladys the Inyo County Recyclescope. We’ll also have great tables and booths including Eastern Sierra Wildcare and some of their wonderful animals. DESCRIPTION:Toiyable Indian Health Clinic Hosts Circle of Strength\nJoin Friends of the Inyo at Kody Jaeger’s new event.  The event includes speakers\, a wellness walk\, and local groups building a stronger community through awareness and action.  Circle of Strength highlights our shared struggles\, support\, and opportunities available in the Eastern Sierra. \nDescription: \nIf you know someone struggling with addictions\, depression\, mental or physical issues or would like to know more about the resources available in the community then please come join us. We will have info booths with great information and people sharing their stories. Come inspire others. Your words could change someone’s life.\nThe more information available to the community the stronger we will become. Join us and support your community!\nCome out and use your voice\, your words and share your ideas! What do you want to see in our community! What’s working and what is not working? Come write on the ‘Graffiti Wall’ and let us know!\nLet this event be the first step towards creating community goals that we can all work towards.\nWe will be having a short walk from Toiyabe Health Clinic on Tu Su Lane at 8:30am.This walk ends at the Barlow Lane Gym. Please feel free to have a sign with your message and why you walk.\nIf you don’t do the walk please join us from 9:00am to 12pm at the Barlow Lane gym for the Community Event. SUMMARY:Great Sierra River Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join Eastern Sierra Land Trust\, the Sierra Club\, and Friends of the Inyo on Saturday\, September 15th as we partner with organizations throughout the Sierra in the Great Sierra River Cleanup (GSRC). The GSRC is a statewide volunteer event that focuses on removing trash from Sierra Nevada waterways. \nWe are leading a special effort to clean up trash from the island in the middle of South Lake! Space is limited to 10 people with watercraft. Please email lauren@friendsoftheinyo.org to RSVP.\nDrinks and snacks will be provided. Please bring a hat\, sunscreen\, and water; leave pets at home. If you do not have a boat\, you are still encouraged to participate in the main cleanup event in the Owens Valley; email ryan@eslt.org to RSVP for that.
