Mt. Whitney Interpretive Hike

FreeCome join Mt. Whitney District Trail Ambassador, Logan for a high-elevation stroll around the Whitney Portal trails.
Where: Meet at the Mt. Whitney Family Campground, there will be roadside parking just above the campground on the left side of the road. Whitney Portal is 11.5 miles west of Lone Pine, CA.
When: 9 A.M. – Noon on July 22nd, August 20th, September 16th
What: Join the Friends of the Inyo on a nature hike located in the beautiful Mt. Whitney region. Topics will include native flora and fauna, a brief history of Mt. Whitney, and nearby geology. If you’re looking for a hike that inspires a connection with nature and a deeper appreciation for the East Side- please join!
Logistics: The hike will start off at roughly 8000′ gaining 400′ over the course of 1.5 miles. Our turnaround destination is a viewpoint/lunch area near a waterfall situated conveniently near Mt. Whitney restaurant. Snacks/lunch, water, backpack, jacket, trekking poles and closed toed shoes are recommended. There is an option to eat brunch/lunch at the restaurant so bring necessary items if desired. Lastly this hike is at elevation so please bring a jacket and or pants in case of a last minute change of weather.
