Member Rendezvous

September 30, 2017 from 2:00 pm - October 1, 2017 from 12:00 pm

Celebrate another year of preservation, exploration and stewardship at the Annual Friends of the Inyo Rendezvous on Saturday, September 23 at the Upper Deadman Creek Group Camp on the edge of the Owens River Headwaters Wilderness!

Enjoy hiking during the day or relaxing at the campground with fellow members. In the evening, FOI will host dinner followed by live music around the campfire and sleeping under the stars. The Rendezvous will finish with a full breakfast (massive egg scramble!) on Sunday morning.

Where: Upper Deadman Creek Group Camp (no water available, so bring your own)

When: Guests are welcome to arrive anytime on Saturday, September 23 (feel free to camp Friday night too). Please bring a chair, water, sunscreen and snacks. If spending the night, bring your camping gear. There is a bathroom on site. Guests can enjoy a leisurely day hanging out at camp or participating in the afternoon exploration.

Natural History Walk with Mike Prather: Join Friends of the Inyo board member and natural history extraordinaire Mike Prather on an exploration of the landscape surrounding the campground. If you’ve never been in the area, it’s a distinctive Jeffrey Pine Forest with many layers of ecological and human history.

Walk begins at 2 p.m.

Evening Celebration: Happy hour starts with a welcome and organizational updates. Mingle and hear stories from the summer. Dinner at 5:30 pm. Main course provided by Friends of the Inyo, and potluck on side dishes.

Sunday Morning Explorations: Join Friends of the Inyo Preservation Manager Jora Fogg on a bird walk or Sam Roberts, Friends of the Inyo board member and professional photographer, on a photography walk.

Walks start at 7:30. Breakfast buffet begins at 8. Casual hike after breakfast.

Price:

$25; free for members at the Sierra Nevada Bighorn ($100) level or higher.
