Help Ellen celebrate 40 years with 40 new members of Friends of the Inyo!

Background: My trail to 40

Turning 40 this year, I would not be the same person without the wild spaces where I’ve crossed paths with profound solitude and also lively community, spaces for deep and sometimes difficult self-reflection and also limitless peace.  20 years ago I went on my first backpacking trip in the High Sierra. I was alone and carrying a ridiculously heavy pack full of ratty gear, with no idea what I was doing. But I was all in for an epic adventure. I joined the Board of Directors at Friends of the Inyo because it’s time to pay it forward to the next scrappy 20-year-old.

About Friends of the Inyo

This small but mighty organization achieves more than the average bear: important policy outcomes, outreach and exploration opportunities for all, and stewardship projects on public lands. Seriously, check out the (rest of the) website! The organization and its policy program are led by women I admire, and the group is pushing itself to center on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and support native voices in the Inyo, which spans the highest (Mt. Whitney) and lowest (Death Valley) points in the U.S.

Join me

For my birthday I ask you to join this group through an annual membership of $35. Help me reach 40 memberships for my 40th! Whether I know you as a rock climber, birder, backpacker, environmentalist, or overall fun person, FOI has your interests covered. And they’ll send you cool stuff. Thank you so much my friends. See you outside!     Thank you,
