Preserving Public Lands of the Eastern Sierra

Friends of the Inyo is a Bishop, California-based, non-profit conservation organization dedicated to preserving the Eastside's unique qualities: its diverse wild lands, scenic beauty, wild rivers, varied flora and fauna, and abundant opportunities for low-impact recreation.

Exploration

Getting people out on the land and forming connections with it is an important part of our mission. We lead dozens of presentations, natural history outings, skills clinics, service and stewardship projects throughout the year. See our Calendar Page for more information on these.

Preservation

As use of public lands in the Eastern Sierra grows so do human impacts to the region's ecosystems. Maintaining the integrity of these resources by securing protective designations such as Wilderness is vital for both ecosystem viability as well as quality recreational experiences.

Stewardship

We work to maintain, create and restore healthy public lands ecosystems through stewardship, habitat monitoring and improvement, removal of invasive species, and maintenance that limits the expansion of the human imprint in natural environments. Read more...
