About Friends of the Inyo

piper24024

Founded in 1986, Friends of the Inyo is a Bishop-based non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the preservation, exploration and stewardship of the Eastern Sierra's public lands.

On the eastern edge of California exists a vast and wild landscape where bighorn sheep roam across alpine ridges, golden trout brighten tumbling streams, and the Milky Way outshines city lights. Every year, millions of people enjoy this land where the desert meets the mountains. Visitors and residents are touched by its quiet, beauty and power. Most of the Inyo region is owned by the American people as federal land. As citizen stewards, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to ensure the Eastern Sierra remains wild and free for future generations of people and wildlife. Friends of the Inyo cares for this unique national treasure by connecting people to the wonders of their public lands.
